How long does it take for a charge to go against your bank account when buying something on-line with PayPal?

I recently purchased something online using Paypal linked to my checking account. Paypal said that I paid for it and the company has emailed me saying my package is on its way. The thing is the money that I was using to pay for it still remains in my checking account. Both my "Available and Ledger" are untouched and have been this way for 3 days now. Is this normal? Or could something have possibly gone wrong?
