Was Thomas Jefferson correct and is today's Republican Party the Party that fears and distrusts the people?

Huh? It is liberal Democrats who continually try and suppress free speech. Examples are their interest in the "fairness doctrine" and the attempts by universities, loaded with liberal ideologues, try and suppress free speech. That shows fear and distrust in the extreme.
